I don’t know where I first heard the song with the lyric “earth my body, water my blood, air my breath, and fire my spirit.” but according to many scientists this is not very far from what has been discovered. It has long been generally agreed that these bodies are made of same thing everything else that makes up the so called “physical world.” Poets through the ages, sages, musicians, pundits, the spiritual, the religious, and atheist have many times referred to the body as “Dust In The Wind”. And now it seems many scientists are on board as well.
But this is not a post on quantum physics or Songs of the 70’s. Rather, it is more like a few interesting questions. If in deed for example, air is our breath and in every cell of our bodies, what stops us from being able to “be the qualities of wind”? If earth is our body, what does it mean to sit as the mountain does or lay as sand on a beach?
If we can answer questions like these, where else could the answer come from but the awareness of the experience itself? Could our imaginations be the source of the what the evidence would seem to suggest? How could this tie in with scientists now finding evidence that much of the body is replaced entirely every few years?
If water be our blood, that is if the body is more water than anything else as it is said, what prevents us from jumping into a bucket “as water” if we want to? “Wonder Twin Powers Activate!!!” Right? If fire be our spirit it must burn with love since what is the realm of spirit if not light? And what shines more than true love?
If we are earth, wind, fire, and water as science has much more than suggested in recent decades, what prevents us from accessing the qualities of each of these elements? How might the qualities of air help, when we feel rushed and just want to “catch our breath”? And if we can access these qualities what does it mean in truth?
But even beyond fancy metaphor, the idea of “shape shifting” seems like some obscure legend like the “Chupacabra” or something. (not that Chupacabras are obscure, I have great respect of course!
I’m talking about the idea “the things legends are made of.” Yet for all it’s obscurity, shape shifting is exactly what all the bones piling up, seem to be showing us has already happened.
Homo-erectus was different from homo sapien in many ways except they both share the same linage. And should we consider an evolution from simple amoebas …. what sort of shape shifting is that? amoebas to homo-sapien…. “wonder twin powers activated! This is beginning to sound less and less like tribal fiction and more and more like something scientifically demonstrated.
Can we shape shift? Is this form called the body, that which seems to define us, not in constant flux even if we think we can’t know about it without blowing up? Exchanging atoms and molecules all around us? Can we shape shift?
Well… probably not right? I mean maybe that’s just crazy to even consider. Shape shifting….. gsheeeeez That would mean, that we had a say in how we evolved, and a choice in where we go next. That in fact it was us who desired to stand on two legs in favor of four, drop the gills, wings, and tails. But who would drop their wings? Of all the things to think “you know these wings really get in the way.”
For me with the price of gas these days and going green and all, I think we could really benefit by starting to think about “what is next for human kind”. I for one… think wings might be a good first step or “trial run.” Just to see if we can do it.. Somehow it seems to me that it is going to require a group effort though (???)
Are you in with me?
At least stop and think about the possibility of it with me for a moment…. if we all got together on the desire for wings (again?), what could happen? What’s the worst that could happen? So clothing designs would change, since when is that a problem? Who wouldn’t like wings? Come on jump aboard! Desire wings with me! It will be good for the economy. We could do it! What is there that we cannot do when we set our minds on something? Bring back the wings!
